Hello Vocalpower!
It was a really wonderful experience! The presentation and info that Mischa gave regarding technique was very informative and helpful and it supported what my previous vocal coach in New York taught me. Despite the fact that Mischa wasn't feeling well yesterday and his voice wasn't at it's best, when he demonstrated certain technique that he was talking about, BAM! he produced exactly the sound he wanted. Fantastic and very impressive!
Dieter was an absolute joy! I'd never met him before but from the first conversation, he was very down to earth and positive. Also, his feedback to some of the participants who just started singing and had very little experience was very supportive. Since I've been living in Germany, I've seen the opposite. Many teachers and coaches destroying students. That was definitely NOT the case at the Music Academy Koeln Sued yesterday.
The group chorus exercise at the end with the small band, was also a nice experience and a fitting ending to the day.
The Music Academy Koeln Sued facility is fabulous. I never expected such a beautiful Altbau! It is really top, modern and you feel good being there. The team from the academy were all friendly, professional and very helpful.
The other participants were very nice and friendly but some were very afraid. I just wanted to get up and give them a big hug to make them feel better!
All in all, a very positive experience and one I would recommend the workshop to anyone who is interested in singing and just starting out, or to experienced professionals like myself. If you want more depth though, I think it's better to schedule private one-on-one sessions with Mischa Züwerink.
Best Wishes, Kathleen Renisch
